The vendors have folded their tents and headed for home, but the 2009 edition of Art In The Park held on the grounds of Willistead Manor over the weekend has already gone down in the books as one of the most successful in the 31-year history of this iconic early summer event in Windsor. Twenty thousand (20,000) visitors streamed through the gates of Willistead Park to ogle and buy the creative handiwork of 200 vendors from across Ontario an impressive 30% increase over the 15,000 who attended last years highly successful show. More than 12,400 people toured the booth-lined park on Saturday and another 7,500 more flowed through the park on Sunday.
For the first time ever Willistead Park remained open into Saturday evening, after the vendors closed their stalls at 6:00 p.m. Organizers credit two new Art In The Park activities the Spirit Tent and Into The Night which featured live musical entertainment and fine wining and dining for at least some of the near-record Saturday public attendance as the Spirit Tent met capacity for the evening.
